Fundraising season As the sweltering days of summer end, nonprofits gear up to hold fundraisers. One of the first major ones this fall is The Great Harvest — An Evening to Care on Sept. 26 at the Four Seasons Hotel. The event benefits Irving Cares, which saw its services stretched thin this summer because of high demand and fewer donations than normal. The goal of Great Harvest this year is to raise $300,000.

The event gives the physically disabled the chance to enjoy sports such as water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, boating, swimming, jet ski rides and more at one location at no charge. Among the special guests will be Team Box WCMX Riders Christiaan “Otter” Bailey and Troy McGuirk from California and Paul Johnson with Southwest Wheelchair Athletic Wheelchair Association.
