The specs for a SATA3 cables and connectors are a bit more stringent but are basically the same, not to mention that a given manufacturer might not actually meet those tighter specs and still label the cable as SATA3. The bottom line is that if you believe that your equipment is so fast that the SATA cable could have an effect on transfer speeds, then buy good quality SATA2 or SATA3 cables, specially if they are going a long distance.
