I remember when the Preppy Handbook came out, they had a man and a woman on one of the talk shows of the time dress appropriately and talking about what it meant to be 'preppy' This show had the regular host and a weekly 'co-host' ( Mike Douglas Show if anyone remembers it.) On this one, the co-host was country singer Jerry Reed. He seemed to have tuned out the two preppies, until they got to the work 'dork'. The guy-preppy comments that Jerry was a dork.
